Finding hidden singles
A hidden single occurs when a digit has only one possible position in a row, column or box, even when the cell itself has several candidates. Compare positions for each digit within a unit.
Work systematically: check a box, then its intersecting rows and columns.
Make pencil marks useful
You need not fill every cell with candidates. Add marks where straightforward elimination gets stuck, and revisit them after each placement.
